How did El Camino Started

An initiative looking to support the local and indigenous population along the route by bringing tourism to their communities.
Inspired by El Camino de Santiago, the founders started in 2012 planning a route accessible for hiking.

After much investigation, they established a path that could offer the tourist a unique experience, including staying in a family home, camping in the jungle, trying local homemade food in the towns they visit, bird watching, and spotting other species in their natural habitat.

What you will Find at El Camino

Costa Rica has a lot of natural diversity. Hiking from side to side, you will experience many of the country’s microclimates, learn about the different types of forests, and share time with the people who live in those rural communities.

A symbiosis where everyone can support each other’s personal and social growth. Visitors will witness the sustainability process the population of those areas has created; they have learned to look after the forest and responsibly use natural resources.
