Rio Perdido

In the heart of Guanacaste, within the province’s spectacular Volcanic Sierra, just an hour’s drive from Liberia, this rediscovered land feels like it’s completely secluded from the entire world, and as such, recently found archeological artifacts tell us that it was once a sacred spot for the Cabecar tribes; people who recognized and harnessed the magic of the thermal gorge, hundreds of years ago.

Stylishly designed and environmentally sustainable, the 38 forest bungalows at Rio Perdido provide a peaceful retreat amidst the awe-inspiring beauty of Costa Rica’s Guanacaste province.
Each bungalow at our lodge is accessed by elevated pathways that connect to general hotel pathways and hiking trails; they are built in a modular format, in order to ensure minimal environmental impact. The design is warm and clean, with wood accents, stainless steel, nylon rope and polished concrete floors. Thoughtful in-room perks include complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV and a contemporary bathroom with a lighted makeup mirror.

Poza Blanca Lodge participates in a species preservation project where you will be able to admire multicolored macaws (scarlet, red and green), pacas or tepezcuintles and white-tailed deer. This last species has been the symbol of Costa Rica’s fauna since 1995. All these species are endangered and the effort to support those species is very valuable.
The property is constantly visited by many different species of birds. It is common to see them in the surrounding trees. In the mornings their singing is a real concert, in the evenings you can hear the peculiar sound that the macaws make at the end of the day.
